This dossier aims to place printed materials—newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, and books—at the center of the analysis as cultural artifacts that not only convey discourses but also actively participate in the construction of representations, identities, and visions of society. Far from being a marginal topic, the circulation of evangelical printed materials raises substantial questions about the construction of the political sphere, the formation of identities, and disputes over cultural hegemony. Each article collected here contributes specific findings and also proposes methodological and theoretical approaches that challenge traditional interpretations, encouraging a rethinking of the place of religion in the region’s social and intellectual history.
