- Abstract
-
This paper examines the spiritual gift of hospitality, understood as a gift of the Holy Spirit by the Evangelical-Pentecostal tradition, critiqued from the perspective of Petrine theology, especially the First Epistle of Peter. To this end, the paper considers the nature and principles of spiritual gifts theology as articulated by Basil of Caesarea and by theologians of the Evangelical-Pentecostal tradition. This study shows how the social context of the epistle invites a new reading of the gift of hospitality in Petrine theology, namely from a perspective of a theology of migration. In a post-colonial era, where those who were once colonized are now migrants, it is necessary to understand the gift of hospitality as a light for the diaspora.
