Abstract

The main intention of this article is to contrast the terms “new heaven, new earth and New Jerusalem” in chapter 21 of the book of Revelation, with similar expressions in other texts belonging to Jewish apocalyptic literature. ¿How to relate these expressions in apocalyptic literature, both Christian and Jewish? This firststudy is not exhaustive, is intended rather to give a global perspective on this subject from the analysis of the terms from a contextual perspective, both yesterday and today. In this sense, we propose that these expressions reflecta Christian community, located towards the end of the firstcentury, which seeks to make sense of their faith and hope in the midst of a hostile context, as was the Roman Empire.
