In this article, we start from the premise that in biblical texts, including narrative texts, a discourse is constructed within the conditions of the communities that construct it, and therefore the approach to these discourses can make use of the various approaches and studies of discourse that have been developed in the field of human sciences, including those that are in charge of language. Especially, in this article, we make a basic approach to the contribution of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as a specific contribution to the study of speeches and in this case applying it to the study of the speech in
the house of Cornelius in Acts 10.28-43. Before entering discourse analysis itself, we make use of the structural semiotic approach, especially the semiotic square, as a starting point. To place the speech in its context, some central elements of the religious phenomenon in
the context of the First Century Roman and some useful guidelines for locating and analyzing Peter’s speech are proposed. Finally, some
clues are proposed, based on the analysis of the speech at Cornelius’ house, for interreligious dialogue and the search for an ecumenical praxis in our context. - Downloads
