As stated in the Preparatory Document for the Synod on Synodality, the goal is not to produce more documents on the subject but rather to “inspire people to dream about the Church we are called to be” (n. 32). It is about being inspired by the dream of a Church for all and creatively responding to the challenge of being a Church that goes forth and moves toward the peripheries. On this journey toward pastoral creativity, it is timely to turn to the Word and explore how the experience of walking together in early Christianity can illuminate the synodal process. It is also relevant to consider the contributions made by the Latin American and Caribbean Church in its desire to respond effectively to the dream of ecclesial renewal.
